Alan R. Gifford, EP (Exercise Physiologist)
Alan has a Masters degree in Exercise & Wellness from Arizona State University and a Bachelors degree in Applied Psychology.
For the past 20 years Alan has helped hundreds of patients recover from back, sciatic and joint pain. Correcting muscle imbalances and restoring bio-mechanical function is his specialty. His application of muscle movement has been applied to the full range of body types, from Olympic athletes to 75yr old retirees.
Alan has created a program that corrects spinal dysfunction. His Master Thesis focused on reducing falls in older adults. Participants in this program noticed a 200% increase in leg and hip strength and a 80% reduction in the incident of falls over the 12 months following the study.
Alan helps patients regain their strength and mobility. They are often referrals from Physical Therapists and Chiropractors who've had limited success in correcting the patients problem. Alan identifies the root cause of pain and dysfunction and creates programs to eliminate pain, restore movement and regain fitness.
Dr. Johanne Gerstel
Growing up in diverse cultural settings aides the development of character a person needs in a career of healthcare and research. Dr. Gerstel was born in the Philippines and followed her family through successful experiences in the Philippines, Singapore, and America. This constant change in lifestyle helped to evolve her perseverance and versatility so that she could pursue a career in healthcare and molecular research.
Once settled in Arizona she focused on her studies and obtained two Bachelor degrees from Arizona State University (ASU) in Biology and Psychology. On her journey to becoming a doctor, she took a detour and worked in the field of behavioral health as a case manager for people with serious mental illness. Here she witnessed first hand the lack of alternative therapies for behavioral health patients. This ignited her passion to pursue a career that could provide an all-inclusive toolbox for her patients’ journey to better health. She enrolled in Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and after four years of hard work became a licensed NMD or Naturopathic Medical Doctor. During this time, she also participated in botanical medicine research which she has continued to pursue in a Molecular and Cellular Biology PhD program at ASU.
Dr. Gerstel is trained in a variety of medical and wellness therapies including naturopathic family practice, trigger point therapy, acupuncture, botanical medicine, nutritional and lifestyle counseling, holistic counseling, nature cure, and energetic modalities such as craniosacral therapy and reiki.
In her spare time, Dr. Gerstel reads, writes fiction novels, crochets, hikes, enjoys nature, and spends time with her husband and three fur babies: Jelly the Dog, Jams the Cat, and Kiwi the Lovebird.
